Mossad Special Agent and a veritable star in his country, Zohan has a secret: his dream is to become a hairdresser in the US. Using a skirmish with his worst enemy, a known terrorist by the name of “The Phantom”, as his chance to escape, Zohan fakes his own death and heads for New York, armed only with scissors and hairdryer.
“Producing such a provocative film on such a hot topic should have sent shivers down the producers’ spines. But amazingly, this unthinkable comedy, borne out of an insane idea by Adam Sandler, has become a cinematographic reality, the wily dove of peace poised to release its droppings on eagles of every persuasion. Given a serious topic, the filmmaker goes for seriously irreverent. Ludicrously comical, over the top, mischievous, iconoclastic and provocative, this film, with the audacity of Zohan’s boxers, bombards its stunned audience with a volley of gags of every calibre – especially if that calibre is crude and smutty.” Alain Spira, Paris-Match
