War On Screen - Festival International des cinémas de guerre

Albert Dupontel : Patron of the festival

Born in 1964, Albert Dupontel is a French actor, director and screenwriter. He came to the fore in the early 90s with Sales histoires for Canal+ and Sale spectacle, where he exhibited his acerbic, unremitting humour. He began his career as a comic actor in film working with filmmakers Paul Vecchiali and Jacques Rivette before going on to work with the likes of Michel Deville, Jacques Audiard, Nicolas Boukhrief, Cédric Klapisch, Gustave Kervern and Bruno Delépine. In 2007, he portrayed a French soldier at the height of the Algerian War of Independence in Florent-Emilio Siri’s Intimate Enemies.

Alongside his comic acting career, he has enjoyed a successful directing career with a number of highly original comedies based around caustic humour: Bernie, The Creator, Locked Out and The Villain. His next film 9 mois ferme is due for release within the next few months.
Undeniably cinephile, he gladly agreed to be Patron of the festival, where he will, among other things, present one of the screenings.
