FIRST EDITION: 2 - 6 OCTOBER 2013
The aim of War on Screen, the first festival of its kind, is to show the wide variety of relationships between cinema and the many wars that shake our world. The cinematographic field explored, in both the past and present, depicts the full spectrum of armed conflicts from history, wherever they may have originated. To this end, the festival programme will include two international competitions (feature-length and short films), director’s picks, retrospectives, a spotlight on a particular conflict, tributes and archive screenings, among other events.
The Festival will combine various genres and formats—fiction, documentaries, archive films, features and shorts, TV series, video games—in order to cover all aspects of the links between war and cinema rather than being limited to a specific cinematographic genre to the exclusion of others. The full range of film and screen formats will be on the bill, along with exhibitions and cine-concerts.
The Festival will also be an opportunity for networking, discussion and debate between filmmakers, producers, critics and historians.
